Most of the attractions and points of interest in Koh Phangan are accessible by paved roads,
4-wheel drive is nice to have for comfort and adventures but definitely not not necessary on the island unless you plan to venture into off-road areas.
The ground clearance is also preferred but mainly depends on where you stay and its access road. All areas are accessible by private sedans, at some locations you just need to drive slow but there aren’t any accessibility issues or damage risks.
